Our cute nephew Asher recently turned the big o-n-e and we had a celebratory bbq a few nights ago. On his actual birthday, he received a couple cookies and some red velvet cake balls, compliments of Auntie Sarah & Uncle Mike (we are so bad!).
Following the cake balls, (which he seemed to LOVE, by the way...obviously this means I am a good cook since I have a one-year old's approval) his shirt(white, of course!) was COVERED in a red drooly mess. It looked like the sweet baby had an encounter with a lion, or some other beast, and WON. It was hilarious. And we found that as long as we provided the treats, they were consumed. This resulted in Asher downing about three cake balls. The aftermath of the cake-ball eating was a sugar high, and for that, Rebecca & Jon, we have learned our lesson and as this cute boy's aunt & uncle and will no longer give your child an excessive amount of sugary treats prior to bedtime. Not that we're completely to blame. Just look at this photo:
How could we have resisted? Look at the cuteness! Anyway, I digress.
His party the other night involved no cake, due to the aforementioned cake ball disaster, which caused the poor child to improvise. Just look at what he came up with:
While Daddy was tending the burgers on the grill, little Asher swooped in and helped himself to a Kaiser roll. You can't fault the boy for that. It's his birthday, he can eat if he wants to.
